A Reflection of 2009

When I think back to the beginning of 2009 I'm amazed at how much can change over 365 days. Back in January, I was getting through the first trimester of my second pregnancy praying for the morning sickness to be over, getting adjusted to our new house and to becoming a SAHM again.I didn't know what a favor cake was, I'd never even heard of Etsy, and I certainly didn't know what plans my Creator had in store for me this year.

Well by mid year, my second daughter and some sort of crafting obsession I couldn't quite explain entered into my life. Of course, I welcomed them both with open arms and have been nurturing them both every since. I've become very accustomed to a schedule of 3am and 5am feedings followed by working on my FavorCakes.

I've learned a lot along the way like how to open my own Etsy shop and I've made a few discoveries such as you can never really own too much ribbon ;-) There's still a lot of questions I have like just how much should I be charging for my FavorCakes and why some people feel the need to tell you they will purchase your product and then don't (Grrrr!) but I know I'll find my answers in due time.

All in all, I have been very blessed in 2009. I have some new ideas and goals for FavorCakes in 2010 and can't wait to see where the new year takes me.

Wishing everyone a safe and Happy New Years!

Why FavorCakes Really ♥'s Twitter & Tori Spelling

To those who read my previous post on why I love Twitter and my mission to get a FavorCake to Tori Spelling, I can now say Mission Accomplished. The very same day I posted that blog entry I got a tweet from Ms. Spelling:

Naturally I was beaming from ear to ear after reading that and couldn't wait to see a picture. Well a day or two went by and no picture yet. Yes I do know she has a life and better things to do than photograph my FavorCake so I just figured she forgot. I was still so grateful for how nice she'd been and for allowing me to send her a cake so it was all good.

Well after coming back from running errands the other day, I get on the computer to feed my Twitter addiction and found this:

Yeah! So a big thank you to Tori Spelling for sharing a picture of my FavorCake with her Twitter followers. I hope she fills it with goodies to share with family and friends :-)

Happy Holidays!

Why FavorCakes ♥'s Twitter & Tori Spelling

So unless you've been living under a rock lately, and even that's not a good excuse, I'm sure you know about Twitter and are one its billion users.

I am truly a fan of Twitter. I love connecting with people all over the globe and discovering developing headlines like when a silver helium balloon might be flying over your state, the trending topics are always interesting (hence #ballonboy), and I simply LOVE tweeting. Occasionally I'll tweet about my FavorCakes to certain celebrities on Twitter just for the heck of it and surprisingly I've gotten some replies.

If I can do a little tooting of my horn, I've received tweets from the lovely @DENISE_RICHARDS, the beautiful @hollyrpeete, and the "happily unmarried to KISS bassist Gene Simmons for 26 yrs" @shannonleetweed.

I've also gotten a response from Tori Spelling, who has to be one of the sweetest and most down-to-earth celebrity moms out there. Long story short, my first attempt at sending her a FavorCake #failed. She found out through my desperate tweets to her and contacted me through DM. I recently sent her another FavorCake, the one pictured above, and now I'm just waiting to see if she received it. So if you see my repetitive dorky tweets to @torianddean asking if she got her FavorCake you'll know why. I'll keep you posted :-)

In the meantime, you can find me on Twitter under FavorCakes.

Happy Holidays!
