If you've seen the movie Steel Magnolias, you may recall the scene where Clariee is live on the radio from the football team's locker room and instead of talking about the game she wants to discuss the color of the team's purple uniforms asking the announcer if he would call their colors "grape" or "aubergine".
I felt a lot like Clariee last Sunday during a discussion with my husband about the uniform colors of the teams in the playoffs. I know very little about the game but I wanted to create two FavorCakes for the winning teams so I relied on my sports savvy husband to help me out. I won't torture you with the whole conversation but it pretty much went like this:
Honey, what are the colors of the remaining teams?
Um, Indianapolis is blue. The Jets are gr-
Blue? What kind of blue?
Dark blue? Light blue? Navy blue? Sky blue?
Um, blue.
Needless to say, I had to do a little more research but I'm very pleased with the finished product right down to those little hand painted helmets. And since I will more than likely be crafting while my husband's watching the Superbowl, might I say "May the best team win!"
